Box Constructions
While there are options in box constructions within manufacturers…one thing to note is that no matter which option you choose based on your budget, you will receive solid wood face frames, doors, and drawer fronts. Box construction refers only to the cabinet box and shelf material only. This offers an opportunity to save money while still maintaining a high level of construction integrity. The two main options you will find in your research is 1/2” furniture board (particle board) and plywood box constructions.

Furniture Board - This option is offered by our cabinet line Legacy Cabinets. It is a less expensive option and consists of an engineered wood that is laminated in a natural birch veneer to protect from moisture and abrasion. It also provides the look of a natural wood on the cabinets interior. Exterior panels are laminated to match your cabinet color.
Plywood - This option is standard in our LifeArt Cabinetry, ROC Cabinetry, J&K Cabinetry lines as well as an option at Legacy Cabinets. Plywood is a stronger material that consists of layers of wood veneer that are glued together in alternating grains to provide the most integrity. Plywood also holds fasteners better when joining two materials together. For most, plywood is the “go-to” cabinet box construction material. Interior panels are clear UV coated to protect against moisture and abrasion and exterior panels are painted or stained to match your cabinet color.

Drawer boxes are constructed using a “dovetail” joinery that offers the best strength in maintaining the life of your cabinets
Full Extension Soft-Close Integrated Undermount Glides
Drawer hardware consists of soft close integrated undermount glides that feature full extension capability. This allows you extend the drawer box completely out to make the most out of your available space while loading or unloading…all while concealing the hardware itself. This feature is instrumental in preserving the functionality of the drawer system by reducing the drawer’s ability to slam shut violently which often leads to damage
Soft-Close Integrated Fully Concealed Door Hinges
Door hardware consists of fully concealed and soft-close integrated hinges that put an end to the typical “thud” of your cabinet door slamming shut. This feature will go a long way to ensure your cabinets function properly. Furthermore, there is no unsightly hardware to take away from your cabinets allure
